“Nrityarupa” Cultural Programme on 23rd November 2015.

Consulate General of India, Hambantota in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Ministry of Cultural & Art Affairs, Southern Province (Sri Lanka) organized a cultural event ‘Nrityarupa’ on the lines of ‘Festival of India’ which was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during his State Visit to Sri Lanka in the month of March 2015. Consulate General of India, Hambantota is going to organize a series of Indian cultural programmes on the lines of Festival of India from November 2015 to June 2016 at the selected destinations under its consular jurisdiction. On account of ‘Festival of India’ the first cultural programme ‘Nrityarupa’ in Southern Province was organized at ‘Hall De Galle’ in the historic city ‘Galle’ . Hon’ble Chief Minister of Southern Province H.E. Mr. Mr Shan Vijayalal De Silva inaugurated the event as a Chief Guest. Acting Deputy High Commissioner Mr. R. Ravindra, High Commission of India, Colombo witnessed the event. Hon’ble Minister of Cultural Affairs (SP), Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture (SP), Secretaries from southern provincial ministries, Acting Chief Secretary of Southern Province, Acting GA of Southern Province graced the event as a Special Guests. Besides that, various high level local government dignitaries, local business people, principals from the local schools, school children and general public witnessed the event. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Southern Province inaugurated the event by lightening traditional oil lamp. The cultural event was attended by approx. 500 viewers and it lasted for 50 minutes. After the cultural event, souvenirs were gifted to the artists as a token of appreciation. The local public appreciated the efforts of Consulate General of India, Hambantota for organizing the event ‘Nrityarupa’.
