World Hindi Day Celebration 2022
Consulate General of India, Hambantota
celebrated this year’s World Hindi Day through series of competitions with
active cooperation & participation of Sri Lankan students pursuing Hindi
language in various districts of Southern Province & Monaragala. Every
year, 10th January is commemorated as “World Hindi Day” with the objective of
promoting Hindi language at the global stage.
02. Competitions
organized by CGI, Hambantota, provided a platform for the students to exhibit
their literary and linguistic competency in Hindi. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic,
the competitions were organized virtually.
03. On
21st January 2022, an award giving ceremony was organized at Matara District
Secretariat. The event was presided over
by the Consul Mr. Atul Aggarwal and he shared the message of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on the occasion of World Hindi Day. A video message by India's
Minister of State for External Affairs Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi was also displayed during
the occasion. District Secretary of Matara Mr. Y Wickramasiri, was the Chief
Guest for the Programme. Winners of the competitions were awarded with prizes
and certificates by the Consul, and the Chief Guest.
