World Hindi Day Celebration 2021
10th January is commemorated every year as
“World Hindi Day” with the objective to promote use of Hindi abroad. The focus
of World Hindi Day is the promotion of Hindi at the global stage. This year Consulate
General of India, Hambantota celebrated the World Hindi Day through a series of
competitions with active cooperation & participation of Sri Lankan students
pursuing Hindi language in various districts of Southern Province. The competitions
were organized to provide these students a platform and show literary and
linguistic competencies in Hindi. Considering the challenges of COVID-19, these
activities were organized through virtual platform. Students representing Galle
Matara Hambantoata & Monaragala districts took part in these competitions.
On 10th January 2021 the award giving ceremony was organized at
Matara Co- Operative society hall. Winners of the competition were awarded with
prizes, certificates and consolation prizes were also given to other students.
Commissioner of Local Government Mr. Senaka Palliyaguruge was the chief guest
of the event. Prizes and the certificates were awarded by the Consul General
Mr. Dipin P.R and the Chief Guest.
