Distribution
of dry rations and essential materials to the families in Tissamaharama
01. Continuing its support to the people
of Sri Lanka during the current challenging times Consulate General of India in
Hambantota together with Tissamaharama Temple, distributed dry ration and
essential materials to the families affected by corona pandemic in
Tissamaharama on 8th July 2021. The materials were distributed by Consul
General of India in Hambantota Mr. Dipin P.R and Ven. Dr. Dewalegama Dhammasena
Thero, Chief Priest at a distribution ceremony held at Tissamaharama Temple,
02. Sri Lanka is among the major
recipients of development assistance from the Government of India. India’s
development projects in Sri Lanka are based on Sri Lanka’s own choices and
priorities and touch the lives of common people across Sri Lanka. On June
28th the Consulate General of India also distributed dry ration and
essential materials to the families affected by floods and corona pandemic in
Galle together with Divisional Secretariat Galle.
03. India’s overall assistance to Sri
Lanka currently stands at more than USD 3.5 billion with USD 570 million being
grants. While close to 65 grant projects have already been carried out
across the Island, 20 of them are being at various stages of implementation.
