Distribution
of dry rations and essential materials to the families in Madampegama, Ratgama
& Hikkaduwa
Extending
support to the people in Southern Province during the Covid 19 pandemic time,
Consulate General of India in Hambantota, distributed dry ration and essential
materials to the families in Madampagama, Hikkaduwa & Ratgama areas on 13th
August 2021. The materials were distributed by Consul General of India in
Hambantota, Mr. Dipin P.R and Hon. Mohan P. De Silva, State Minister of Coast
Conservation and Low-Lying Lands Development in the presence of other local
government dignitaries.
02. Along with the dry ration distribution,
Consulate General of India, Hambantota also presented essential reading
materials, reference books and other stationaries to 20 schools in Galle
District. The books were presented to the principals of the schools who were
present at the occasion & they deeply appreciated this goodwill gesture.
03. Previously
on 28th June, 8th July & 5th August the
Consulate General of India distributed dry ration and essential materials to
the families affected by corona pandemic in Galle, Tissamaharama & Buttala.
Sri Lanka is among the major recipients of development assistance from the
Government of India. India’s development projects in Sri Lanka are based on Sri
Lanka’s own choices, priorities and touch the lives of common people across Sri
Lanka. India’s overall assistance to Sri Lanka currently stands at more than
USD 3.5 billion with USD 570 million being grants. While close to 65 grant projects have already
been carried out across the Island, 20 of them are being at various stages of
implementation.
