Carrying/Use of Satellite Phones is Illegal

"Under Section 20 of the Indian Telegraph Act and Section 6 of the Indian Wireless Act, the carrying of any kind of a satellite phone or its use is prohibited for all foreign citizens. This restriction applies regardless of the type of passport held by that individual. Any such use or possession of a satellite phone, without prior approval, is illegal/unauthorized."
