The  Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated 141st  Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 30th  October 2016.  Floral tributes was paid at the portrait of Sardar  Vallabhbhai Patel by the Consul General and other senior officials of  the Post.  Local community, Sri Lankan friends of India, students of  Tsu-Chi National School & Hindi classes and members of the Post  along with their families also paid floral tribute to Sardar Patel at  the Library Hall in Consulate General of India, Hambantota.
The  Consul General in his speech emphasized, on the vision and efforts  made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in making India as one united  country. He also said that we can never forget the contribution of  Sardar Patel as he integrated the nation through his skill, vision  and patriotism.  Students from Tsuchi School, Hambantota gave  speeches in Hindi about life of Sardar Vallahbhai Patel and also  presented the quotes in Hindi.  Dance  performance was made by students of Hindi Class.  A movie on the life  of Sardar Vallahbhai Patel “Sardar” was also screened to mark the  event.   The  event lasted for 3 hrs.
