The Consulate General of India, Hambantota, successfully organized the Viksit Bharat Run 2025 on Sunday, 28 September 2025 at the historic UNESCO Heritage Galle Fort in the city of Galle, Sri Lanka. The run witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 350 people. This included dignitaries like Grp Capt H A W P Hettiarachchi Commanding Officer, Koggala Airforce Base, Rear Admiral Kosala Warnakulasooriya Southern Area Commander, Sri Lankan Navy and Government officials. Members of Indian diaspora, local Sri Lankan citizens, students, youth organizations, and cultural groups, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties between India and Sri Lanka. It was an enthusiastic event with children, adults and people from different walks of life participating in it. Participants carried banners and slogans promoting fitness, unity, and shared aspirations for development, while the scenic setting of Galle Fort added cultural and historical significance to the event. The event concluded with wide appreciation, symbolizing solidarity, shared progress, and collective commitment towards a brighter future.
