Music is an important part of the shared heritage between
India & Sri Lanka. To sustain & encourage the abiding interest in
Hindustani music among the Schools in Southern Sri Lanka, Consulate General of
India, Hambantota presented Indian Classical musical instruments received from
ICCR, New Delhi to Weligatta Maha Vidyalaya, Hambantota on 21st
January 2021. These instruments included Violin, Sitar, Tabla, Tanpura etc.
The instruments were presented to the school principals by Mr.
Dipin P.R, the Consul General of India, Hambantota. The
Principal, Teachers & Students deeply appreciated the contribution of
Consulate General of India, Hambantota to their school for developing their
students’ talent in music.
