On 24 October 2025, Vice Consul Ch. Ratnamala attended the “Dakshina Punaruda” Cultural & Literary Festival held in Matara. The festival was organized by the Southern Provincial Ministry of Culture to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Southern Sri Lanka. The event was graced by Saroja Savithri Polraj, Hon’ble Governor of the Southern Province Bandula Harischandra, Members of Parliament Nihal Galappaththi and Ajantha Gammeddage, and the Mayor of Matara Jayantha Pathirana.

Coinciding with the festival, the Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a two-day Film Festival from 24–25 October 2025. The screenings showcased a variety of Indian films reflecting diverse cultural narratives, strengthening cultural ties and promoting greater mutual understanding and people-to-people connections between India and Sri Lanka.
