On 5 October 2025, the Consul General of India, Mr. Harvinder Singh, inaugurated the exhibition “India Through Sri Lankan Eyes: Buddhist Pilgrim Places in India” at Shailabimbaramaya Temple. The inauguration took place in the presence of the Chief Incumbent of the temple and the Chairman of the Hikkaduwa Urban Council Mr. Yasaswin Godakanda. The event was also graced by the former Chairman of the Urban Council and several Council Members, along with devotees and members of the local community. The exhibition highlighted significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India and aimed to strengthen the shared cultural and spiritual heritage between India and Sri Lanka.

Consul General of India, Mr. Harvinder Singh, participated in the “Dakshina Punarudaya” Cultural & Literary Festival held in Hambantota, organized by the Southern Provincial Ministry of Culture. The festival was graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Harini Amarasuriya, as the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of the event in celebrating the region’s vibrant cultural identity.

On this occasion, the Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a two-day Film Festival and ODOP–Tourism Exhibition from 10–11 October 2025 as part of the celebrations. The exhibition showcased India’s cultural diversity, tourism attractions, and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, promoting traditional crafts and regional specialties while fostering cultural connections between India and Sri Lanka.
