On 29 January 2026, the Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized “Abhinaya Darshan – The Colours of Kathakali” in the historic city of Galle, featuring Kalasree Evoor Rajendran Pillai and his ensemble from India. The performance offered audiences a mesmerizing experience of India’s classical performing arts, showcasing the rich tradition and expressive storytelling of Kathakali.

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Hon. Thilanka U. Gamage, Hon. T. K. Jayasundara, Hon. Dr. Nishantha Samaraweera, Members of Parliament, Chandima Muhandiram, K. U. Chandralal, and many other eminent guests.

The event celebrated the shared cultural heritage between India and Sri Lanka, providing a vibrant platform for artistic exchange and deepening people-to-people connections through classical dance and music.
