The Consulate General of India, Hambantota, celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2025 at the Consulate premises with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the National Flag by Consul General Shri Harvinder Singh, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Consul General also read out the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu’s address to the nation, delivered on the eve of Independence Day. The event witnessed the participation of several distinguished guests, including members of the clergy, Mr. Bimal De Silva, District Secretary, Mr. D.A. Gamini, Hon’ble Mayor, officials of the Tri Forces, and many friends of India from Southern Sri Lanka, making the celebration a memorable and dignified occasion.
