77th Republic Day Celebration of India - Southern Province Sri Lanka - Flag Hoisting

The Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on Monday, 26 January 2026, with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The event commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Consul General, Harvinder Singh, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The Consul General then read out the address of the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, delivered to the nation on the eve of Republic Day.

The flag-unfurling ceremony was attended by several distinguished personalities, including members of the clergy, Bimal De Silva, D. A. Gamini, officials of the Tri-Forces, and numerous friends of India from Southern Sri Lanka, making the occasion truly memorable.
