Posted on: April 13, 2021 | Back | Print

Dear Sri Lankan friends,

Ayubowan!

Vanakkam!

Aurudu season is a time when everyone gets together with their family and friends to follow our customs and traditions. It is also the season of harmony, prosperity and happiness. On this occasion I wish you a very happy and prosperous Sinhala and Tamil New Year on behalf of the Consulate General of India, Hambantota!

As we all know, it was a difficult time for all of us due to unexpected COVID 19 situation. However, engagement at high levels and timely actions of both our governments helped us to face various challenges. India is happy to have supported Sri Lanka to fight COVID 19 pandemic by providing essential medical support and vaccines.

On this, occasion I would like to inform that India will complete 75 years of independence on 15th August 2022. Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 12th March formally launched India@75 celebrations at Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat, 75 weeks before that landmark date. As part of India@75 celebration, we will be organizing various events and activities with active participation and cooperation of our friends in Sri Lanka. Once again, I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year.

Thank you.
