A Photo Exhibition on “India through Sri Lankan Eyes” from 27 - 28 October, 2015 was inaugurated by the Hon. Chief Minister of Uva Province Mr. Chamara Sampath Dassanayake on 27th October 2015 at 1000 hrs at Pokunugala Rajamaha Viharaya in Monaragala. Hon. Ullapola Chandananda Thero, Chief Priest of the temple, Hon. Mr. Saliya Sumeda Silva, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs, Tourism, Transport & Cultural Affairs Uva Provincial Council, Hon. Mr. R.M. Kumarasiri Rathnayake, Minister of Health and Indigenous Medicine, Probation and Child Care Services, Women’s Affairs & Social Welfare Uva Provincial Council, Mr. Sumith Suaraweera, Chief Secretary of Uva Province, Ms. D.S. Pathmakulasooriya, District Secretary, Monaragala District, & many other local government dignitaries are also attended the event. On the first day near about 1000 locals visited photo exhibition and they highly appreciated the efforts made by Consulate General of India, Hambantota.
We have also been screening a documentary film “Land of Buddha” on Lord Buddha / Buddhism in the evening of 27th October 2015 (Poya Day) at the premises of the temple for the public.
