73rd  Independence Day Celebrations at Consulate General of India, Hambantota

 

The Consulate General of India, Hambantota in Sri Lanka celebrated the 73rd Independence Day of India on Thurseday i.e. August 15, 2019 at the premises of the Consulate. Consul General, Mr. Prem Kumar Nair, unfurled the Indian flag at 9.00 a.m.at the premises of the Consulate and read out the Address to the Nation on the eve of the Independence Day by the Hon´ble President of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind.

About 50 Guests, including Mr. Badula Harishchandra, District Secretary of Hambantota, Mr. E.M. U Wijitha Gunarathne DIG Hambantota Matara , W.O.N. Kumara, Commanding Officer, Naval Deployment, Hambantota, Major General G.W.T.K Jayathilaka USPNDU,12th Division Army Commanding Officer, Mr. K.M.G.S Priyantha, HQI Hambantota Hon. K.G Gamni Shri Ananda, Acting Mayor, hambantota Municipal Council Members local Government officials, local police officials, Indian Nationals friends of India, etc. participated in the flag hoisting ceremony. Snacks were served after the event.

As part of the special event to mark the celebrations of Indian Independence Day, a Bharatanatyam dancing programme by Dr. Parimal Phadke & Group would be organized at Monaragala (District Library Auditorium at 4.00 pm) and Kotapola (Kotapola Pradeshiya Sabha Auditorium at  2.30 pm) on 18th and 20th August 2019 respectively.
