Bandish Fusion workshop on 12th Aug. 2015 (photos along with write-up)

As part of the 69th Independence Day Celebrations of India on 15th August 2015, the Consulate General of India, Hambantota in collaboration with Indian Council of Cultural Affairs, New Delhi and University of Ruhunu organized “Bandish Fusion” programme for two days from 12-13, August 2015. On the first day i.e. 12th August 2015 a workshop was conducted at Geology Auditorium at University of Ruhuna campus, Matara. The workshop was inaugurated by Sr. Prof. Mr. S.W. Amarasinghe in Sociology at 1430 hrs. Around 80 students from various streams were attended. The faculty members/lecturers were also present there. During the workshop Pandit Subhen Chatterjee along with his group gave a small lecture on Bandish Fusion (an evening of world music) how they create a new style based on Hindustani Music. Later the troupe played Tamil and Assamese song by using their own style of music composition “Bandish Fusion”. University students of Ruhuna, faculty members/lecturers thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. The workshop lasted for one and half hour.
